Nokia changes its Logo after 60 years to signal a strategy shift
Finish 5G equipment maker Nokia Oyj has redesigned and launched its logo after 60 years. This is done in order to mark its new era. According to officials, the logo is redesigned to stop people from associating it with mobile phones — a business it left almost a decade ago.
‘We want to launch a new brand that is focusing very much on the networks and industrial digitalization, which is a completely different thing from the legacy mobile phones, Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark said
“We had very good 21% growth last year in enterprise, which is currently about 8% of our sales, (or) 2 billion euros ($2.11 billion) roughly,” Lundmark said. “We want to take that to double digits as quickly as possible.”
Lundmark also said that Nokia will focus on adding market share in the company’s business by serving wireless service providers with network supplies. Nokia now has “the ammunition and the tools” to take market share without sacrificing margins, he said. That’s been helped by restrictions on Chinese rival, Huawei Technologies Co. after a number of European governments blocked the company from selling parts for 5G networks.
“We are not happy yet with where we are,” he said.
